Boston Magic Lab · End of Season BBQ · 2026

The Frog

Thursday, April 23, 2026

Hi ho, everybody!

It’s me, Kermit, and I have a little announcement to make, and I want you to know that I’ve been asked to make this announcement by the Boston Magic Lab, which is a group of very talented and very wonderful people, and I am happy to do it, I really am, it’s just that —

well.

It’s a lot, sometimes. Organizing things. You know?

[clears throat]

Anyway!

The Boston Magic Lab — which has had, and I want to say this clearly, a really remarkable season, a season that I think a lot of people are not giving enough credit to, and I include myself in that, I should have said something sooner — the Boston Magic Lab is having a barbecue!

And you’re invited!

[pause]

Isn’t that something.

It’s on Sunday, May the seventeenth, at one o’clock in the afternoon, and it’s at 70 Scituate Street in Arlington, Massachusetts, in the back yard, and I just — I think it’s going to be really nice, I do. There’s going to be food and there’s going to be people and there’s going to be that feeling you get sometimes in a garden in May when the light is just right and everyone you care about is there and you think, oh, this, THIS is the thing, this is what it’s all for.

You know that feeling?

I get that feeling.

[pause]

Sorry. I’m fine.

Now, everyone is asked to bring food or drink to share, and the coordination of that — of who brings what — is forthcoming, which is a word that means it’s coming, we just don’t know exactly when, and I’ve found in my experience that a lot of things in life are forthcoming in that sense, and you just have to trust that they will arrive, and usually they do.

Usually.

And Jeannine is going to be there.

[longer pause]

Jeannine is going to be at the grill, and I’ve seen Jeannine at the grill, and I have to tell you — and I don’t say this lightly, I’ve worked with a LOT of talented people, Miss Piggy alone has made me question my own abilities on numerous occasions — but Jeannine at the grill is something genuinely special. It’s quiet and it’s confident and it just — it makes you feel like everything is going to be okay.

And sometimes you need that.

I need that.

[to himself] I need that a lot actually.

[recovering]

Anyway! Felice has organized everything, and the whole Gang is going to be there, and it’s going to be a really lovely afternoon and I hope you’ll come because the Magic Lab has worked very hard this year and they deserve to be surrounded by people who love them, and I think you are those people, and I think they know that, and I think —

I think it’s going to be really nice.

It’s not easy being the one who makes the announcements, you know. Somebody has to do it. Somebody has to stand up and say, hey, there’s a barbecue, come to the barbecue, Jeannine is going to be there, it’s May 17th, 70 Scituate Street Arlington, one o’clock, back yard, bring something.

Somebody has to say that.

I don’t mind.

I really don’t.

[tiny pause]

Okay I mind a little.

But I’m glad I did it.

[genuine smile]

I’ll see you there.

Yaaaaay!

[Enthusiastic but slightly chaotic Muppet applause from offstage.]

[Animal hits something.]

[Kermit sighs.]
