Self-Evaluation Form — Annual Performance Review Employee: The Boston Magic Lab Reviewing Manager: [Name withheld out of professionalism]

Section 1: Summary of Accomplishments This Review Period

This season I feel like I really grew a lot as an organization and delivered some really strong results in terms of magic and also just like general vibe. The shows were good. I think most people would agree they were good if they had actually come to them, which, noted.

I collaborated effectively with my team including Felice who is honestly doing the most and the Managers who are also great and very easy to work with, which is something I value in a working environment, just putting that out there.

I also maintained a really positive relationship with our audience base and external stakeholders (friends) throughout the entire season with zero formal complaints which I think speaks for itself.

Section 2: Areas of Strength

Magic. Community building. Creating an end-of-season BBQ experience that is honestly iconic at this point? Like Jeannine has been doing the grill for how many years now and it just gets better and people talk about it for months afterward and I just think that deserves to be acknowledged somewhere in writing so I’m acknowledging it here.

The BBQ is May 17th by the way. At 70 Scituate Street Arlington. The backyard. 1pm. Guests are asked to bring food or drink to share and coordination on that is coming soon. I’m just including this here because I wasn’t sure where else to put it and it felt important.

Section 3: Areas for Development

I would actually push back on this section as a concept because I think framing growth opportunities as “areas for development” is a little bit 2015 but I understand we’re working within existing systems so I’ll engage with it.

One thing I could work on is probably communication, specifically communicating certain things to certain people who shall remain nameless who would benefit from being more in the loop about what’s actually happening on the ground as opposed to just assuming everything is fine because it usually is fine but it would be nice to be asked.

Section 4: Goals for Next Review Period

To continue doing great work in an environment that fully supports and recognizes that great work, which I am optimistic about but also realistic about, which I think shows a lot of maturity on my part.

Also to have the BBQ go really well which I genuinely believe it will because Jeannine is doing the grill and when Jeannine does the grill it goes well, it always goes well, that’s just a fact, and I would love to see that reflected in next year’s budget conversation but again, optimistic, realistic, mature.

Section 5: Additional Comments

I just want to say that I think this has been a really strong year and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished and I hope that comes through in this document even though this format is not really designed to capture the full picture of what someone actually contributes, which is fine, I’m not making it a thing, I just think there are probably better ways to do this that I would be happy to discuss at a time that works for both of us.

The BBQ again is May 17th. 1pm. 70 Scituate St Arlington. Backyard. Come if you were invited which you were. Bring something.

Jeannine will be at the grill.

That’s all.

P.S. I saw the feedback from last year’s review and I do want to address the comment about “professionalism” but I think that’s probably a conversation for another time.

P.P.S. Not a big deal. Just something I’ve been sitting with.
